At the Courthouse, this year we will feature skills including wool spinning, sugán chair making and water divination, in addition to blacksmithing, weaving, basket-making, foraging and lace-making. A newly-commissioned exhibition ‘Embers’ will also showcase a range of skills being practiced by older people in County Clare, directed by artist Nicola Henly with photographs by Myriam Riand of people using traditional skills as well as interviews by Paula Carroll of Cuimhneamh an Cláir / Clare Memories.
The Salmon Book Shop and Literary Centre will be the venue for all skills relating to the word and the pen including storytelling, poetry and art.
Stack Weavers will be our centre for thread craft demonstrations from drop spindling to workshops on the place of craft in our daily lives and more.
Byrne’s Violin Shop and Gallery will be open for visitors to experience a fully restored traditional shop as it would have been in the 19th Century.
We are thrilled to announce we will have a wonderful makers market at this year's festival featuring businesses making products by hand and with traditional methods.
The festival is free to attend but we kindly ask you to register at the link above for a ticket so we can predict numbers. Full programme and further details to follow by mail once registered.
